To Beach Read or Not to Beach Read….

A summer reading list is a school staple, but how much have those lists changed over the past few decades? Business Insider reached out to top private schools across the country and asked what their students were reading this summer. Take a look: http://www.businessinsider.com/summer-reading-lists-at-prestigious-private-schools-2015-7

Amongst others, Trinity and Choate Rosemary Hall mentioned “Catch-22″ by Joseph Heller (1961). Lawrenceville requires students to read “Farenheit 451” by Ray Bradbury (1953)  as well as  other choices such as “Lolita” by Vladimir Nabokov (1955). Deerfield Academy recommends “Invisible Man” by Ralph Ellison (1952). Hotchkiss School mentioned the 1990 acclaimed Tim O’Brien book, “The Things They Carried.”

Even with more modern works sprinkled in, it looks like classics die hard. How many of these have you read? Happy reading!
